I. DRINK WATER: How can you increase your energy and endurance by 50% during your workout? Yes, 50%! Very simply. Drink water. The University of Capetown, South Africa, was looking for ways to increase athletes’ endurance and energy. Six competition-trained cyclists were asked to pedal to near exhaustion on stationary bikes. The first time, they pedaled to exhaustion without water, the second time, with water. The results: when the athletes were able to drink water they lasted 50% longer. This proves that low dehydration slows down athletes and you. Keeping yourself hydrated can make you feel great and full of energy. II. PUMP UP YOUR WORKOUT: How can you generate energy for your evening workout? It’s the end of the workday. You’ve been looking forward to your workout all day. But at 6pm, you’re tired. How can you kickstart your workout?

  1. Drink water 30 minutes before you work out. This hydrates your muscles and cells, increases your endurance and gives you a quick energy boost.

  2. Eat a piece of fruit. This is a natural sugar boost. The fiber in fruit will keep your sugar levels steady, versus a candy bar or soda. Having sugar in your system also helps you burn fat rather than muscle.

  3. Stretch and warm up. This helps prevent injury to your muscles and gets the blood flowing. It takes between five and fifteen minutes to warm your core body temperature to the point where you will now start burning a combination of fat and sugar.

  4. Use music to get you motivated. Upbeat music will instantly change your state of mind. Plugging into your Walkman may be the easiest way to motivate yourself.

  5. Think about how great you’ll feel after you’ve worked out!

III. SUGAR IS A QUICK FIX: Does a soda or candy bar increase your energy? We find sugar gives you energy, but at what price? Did you know a can of Coke contains 22 teaspoons of sugar? White sugar does give a boost of energy in the short term, but afterwards your body crashes. Here’s why: when sugar initially floods your bloodstream, your body, specifically your pancreas, is signaled to release insulin. Insulin is a hormone that gathers sugar for storage. This is when you feel that rush of energy and your body takes a ride on what I call "the sugar roller-coaster." As in anything, what goes up, must come down. After your body energy rises, suddenly it plummets downward. The key question is, how fast? When your body ingests simple sugars, your blood sugar goes up quickly and crashes just as quickly. The solution? Choose complex carbohydrates, like grains, fruits, vegetables, because your body takes longer to digest them and allows a steady increase in blood sugar. And a more steady decline. When you open your refrigerator, think to yourself, do I want to take a crash landing with a Coke, or glide in safely with an apple? This is Dr. Energy from drenergy.com, motivating you to choose the apple and live with energy!

IV. BENEFITS OF CHIROPRACTIC: How can a chiropractor increase your energy? I’ve been going to a chiropractor for over seven years. I practice this unlimited energy habit at least once a month. Combined with regular exercise, healthy diet, and a balanced lifestyle, a monthly chiropractor visit will increase your energy. Benefits of chiropractic adjustment:

  1. Maximizes the communication. The communication network between your body and brain is the spinal cord and spinal nerves. Having your spine aligned maximizes this communication between your brain and all of your body’s systems.

  2. Takes you out of pain. Chiropractic adjustment relieves pressure on the nerves that are being pinched due to a misalignment in your body.

  3. Makes you feel good. Chiropractic adjustments trigger your brain to produce chemicals called "neurotransmitters," including endorphins and serotonin. These make you feel really good.

V. STAYING HYDRATED: How much water should you drink to be full of energy? Our mothers and family doctors have always told us to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. This is a good rule of thumb—for inactive people. If you’re active, exercise, live in an area where the temperature is high, or you’re over the age of 50, you need to drink at least twelve glasses a day. When should you drink all this water? Studies have shown it is best to drink four ounces every half-hour. This gives your body the right amount that it can easily absorb. If you drink more than this, it passes through your body and puts a strain on your kidneys. For practical purposes, I recommend eight ounces when you wake up, four every half our, and eight ounces before bed. When shouldn’t you drink water? Don’t drink water while you’re eating. Water dilutes your gastric juices and makes it harder for your stomach to break down food. Keeping yourself hydrated can make you feel great and full of energy. This is Dr. Energy™™ from drenergy.com, motivating you to drink water and live with energy!

VI. EATING FOR ENERGY: What’s left to eat to be full of energy? First, fat is bad, then protein, now the news tells me to cut down on carbohydrates. What’s left? Well, I’m here to tell you. Sugar won’t kill you, fat won’t kill you, protein won’t kill you either. However, too much of anything could. For example, if you eat too much fat, your body will store it…as fat. The more fat in you, the more fat on you. Our body needs a variety of food for nourishment. The goal is to get oxygen, water, and nutrients to your cells. The right foods, in the right amount, provides these nutrients. How much nutrition does your body receive from a diet soda, versus a salad? Potato chips, versus a piece of fruit? Which are the right foods in the right amounts? The keys are awareness and moderation. Take a step back. Listen to your body. What does your body tell you it needs? Ask you body. Does it need more food? More water? More exercise? All of our bodies are different. Asking, listening, and providing a variety of foods, in moderation, are the keys to building an unstoppable and unlimited energy machine. This is Dr. Energy from drenergy.com, motivating you to listen to your body and live with energy!

VII. WATER, WATER, EVERYWHERE: How can drinking water increase your energy? Whether you’re an athlete, an active person, or a couch potato, whether you drink coffee, tea, or soda, water is one of the keys to increasing energy. Water has more benefits than you probably know. Every cell in your body needs water to function. Water flushes toxins from your body. Some health professionals even prescribe extra water as an antidote to the common cold. By flushing toxins out of your system, water helps you lose weight. If you drink a glass twenty minutes before a meal, water fills you up. Water increases your endurance. Water helps strained muscles recover faster. Water hydrates your skin. That prevents wrinkles and keeps your looking younger. Keeping yourself hydrated can make you feel healthier and full of energy. This is Dr. Energy from drenergy.com motivating you to drink water and live with energy!

VIII. WAKE UP WITH ENERGY: How can you wake up every morning full of energy? Do you overuse the snooze button? Do you wake up tired? The reason is, you don’t get a good night’s sleep. The solution? Prepare yourself for a peaceful sleep. When you sleep peacefully, your body is able to rest and repair itself. Here are some tips for a peaceful sleep:

  1. Cut down on alcohol. Studies have shown that even one ounce of alcohol causes heart irregularity while sleeping. Since your body has to work extra hard to break down these toxins, just one drink can make you toss and turn

  2. Eat little or nothing before sleep. When you eat before going to bed, your body has to spend energy digesting the food instead of repairing and resting.

  3. Clear your mind before bed. When you are anxious about something, worried about the big test or meeting, your mind is racing. You can calm yourself by writing in your journal. Letting go and taking a deep breath. Or focusing on weightlessness.

This is Dr. Energy from drenergy.com motivating you to prepare yourself for a peaceful sleep and live with energy!

IX. LOSE WEIGHT FOR ENERGY: Can losing weight increase your energy? You bet it can. Imagine walking around with a ten pound bowling ball attached to your belly. How would your back feel? How much more work would your legs and entire body have to do? Shedding the weight will increase your energy. What are some of the most effective ways to lose weight?

  1. 1. Decrease caloric intake and increase activity. Decrease calories by 250 a day and increase activity by 350 a day. You can easily take off a pound of fat a week. This gradual shedding of weight will help you increase your metabolism by helping you increase your internal set point, which regulates your metabolism.

  2. 2. Eat five servings of fruit and vegetables a day. By eating the recommended daily five fruits and vegetables, you reduce your chance of colon, lung, stomach, esophagus, and oral cancers by 40% compared to people who eat only two fruits and vegetables.

  3. 3. Limit your fat intake to twenty grams or less. This will give your body more than enough fat to function properly. Remember, the more fat in you, the more fat on you.

  4. 4. Minimize your sugar intake. Your body stores excess sugar as fat.

X. DON’T RELY ON CAFFEINE: Does the caffeine in your coffee, tea, or soda increase your energy? Maybe, in the short term. You get a rush from caffeine. But this rush causes a crash. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant that can make you feel nervous, anxious, or jittery. The American Heart Association tells us that "a cup of coffee that gets you started in the morning may be prematurely ending your life."

  1. It speeds up your heart, which gives you more energy now, but can cause heart problems later. Blood pressure rises, muscles become more tense, and the adrenal gland pumps out stress hormones. Too much caffeine will eventually wear out your body.

  2. Caffeine has been directly linked to breast cancer. Dr. Minson’s study showed that 65% of his patients’ breast nodules disappeared in 2-6 months when they eliminated caffeine.

  3. The American Journal of Public Health found that women who drank 5-15 cups of caffeinated beverages per day, are four times more likely to have severe PMS symptoms.

  4. Caffeine is a diuretic, which dehydrates you and makes you eliminate water, as well as important nutrients, like B complex vitamins, C, zinc, potassium, and magnesium. If you must drink caffeine, add an extra 8-ounce glass of water for every caffeinated drink. This will balance caffeine’s dehydrating effect.

Since caffeine is addictive, it is best to cut down gradually. Being aware of your caffeine intake and keeping yourself hydrated can make you feel healthier and full of energy.

XI. WHY WORRYING DRAINS YOUR ENERGY: There’s nothing that drains your energy like needless worrying. We all do this. Worrying takes up time, shifts your focus from taking action to being passive, and generally eats up your energy. The odd thing about worrying is that if you look back, whatever it is that you worried about, probably never happened. Even the Bible tells us not to worry.
Unlimited energy tips to stop worrying:

  1. Take action. Take a step that moves you closer to solving your challenge. Top executives and successful authors have shared with me that they seldom worry. Instead, they act.

  2. Look at the bigger picture. Extend your focus beyond your challenge.

  3. Ask yourself what is the worst thing that can happen if. This question helps you prioritize.

  4. Imagine what the smartest person in the world would do, what a spiritual guru would do, what your mother would do.

XII. BREAK IT UP: How can you increase your energy and decrease your stress in only twenty minutes? Take a break from your job for a nap! The National Sleep Foundation reported that Americans sleep 20% less than their great-grandparents did. Society has changed, but the human body hasn't. Adults need 7-8 hours of sleep every night, and chronic sleep deprivation can lead to moodiness, depression, and inability to concentrate. The good news is that a 15-20 minute nap can quickly replenish alertness and energy. A NASA study showed that 24 minute naps increased pilots' concentration on long flights. Many companies are now setting up "nap rooms" to increase employee energy and morale. So if you're feeling overworked and overtired, you probably are. Forget about your in-box for a moment, walk away from the fax machine, and treat yourself to a healthy, replenishing rest. This is Dr. Energy reminding you to nap when you need to and live with energy!

XIII. IMPROVE YOUR SEX LIFE: Did you know that the primary risk factors for heart disease - high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking - are also risk factors for impotence? Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis found that 25% of men who consult a physician for impotence have a heart attack or stroke within five years. The common cause is arteriosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Erections are caused by an increased flow of blood to the penis during sexual stimulation. Arteriosclerosis constricts the flow of blood and therefore makes it difficult to achieve and maintain an erection. So if you want to enjoy a healthy sex life for decades to come, improve your blood flow by lowering your cholesterol and exercising aerobically at least three times a week. As urologist Dr. Richard Milsten put it, "What's going on below the waist is a reflection of what's going on above it." This is Dr. Energy reminding you to keep that blood flowing and live with energy!

XIV. TIME FOR A TOAST: Here's some good news for those who like to relax with a drink at the end of a long day. Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health recently reported that consuming two drinks a day can lower your risk of heart attack by 25%! However, the researchers did note differences between men and women. Men get the most benefit and the least risk from two drinks a day, while women should limit themselves to one, since increased alcohol consumption increases the risk of breast cancer. The study, published in the British Medical Journal, found that beer, wine and spirits were equally beneficial. This is Dr. Energy reminding you to drink in moderation and live with energy!
